All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. The minimum education requirement for on-campus, diploma program and distance education applicants have a high school diploma or form 5 and 5 subjects pass in HKCEE (Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination).
On-Campus students: On campus students must also demonstrate English proficiency in at least one of these 5 ways:
- Grade E or above in English Language (Syllabus B) or Level 2 or above in English Language in the Hong Kong Certificate of Education Examination (HKCEE).
- Obtain a minimum score of 500 on the paper-based TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language), 173 on the computer-based TOEFL, or 61 on the internet-based TOEFL. TOEFL scores are valid for two years from the date of the examination.
- Obtain a score within Band 5 or higher on the IELTS (International English Language Testing System) test. IELTS scores are valid for two years from the date of the examination.
- Obtain a minimum grade of "B" on the Cambridge CAE exam
- Submit proof of graduation from a secondary school (high school) or college/university where English is the language of instruction.
Dates and Deadlines
We must receive all required transcripts and documents before you can be accepted into the program.
All applications must be accompanied by all required fees and documents. Applications and/or registrations without all required fees and documents cannot be processed. You won't be able to reserve space in any on-campus class or lab class until GIA received all documents and fees required for enrollment.
On-Campus students: There are no application deadlines for on-campus classes, but we encourage you to apply at least 2-3 months before the start date, especially student who is not Hong Kong resident and need to apply for student visa. If you apply for a class that has reached capacity, you will be placed on a wait-list and notified if a change occurs and an open seat becomes available.
Accelerated program students: There are no application deadlines for diploma program students, but classes typically reach capacity months in advance. We encourage you to apply at 3-4 months before your preferred start date. If you apply for a class that has reached capacity, you will be placed on a wait-list and notified if a change occurs and an open seat becomes available
Distance education students: There are no application deadlines for distance education courses. Generally, you can apply, receive your materials, and start your coursework once your application is completed.
Lab class students: There are no application deadlines for lab classes. If you apply for a class that has reached capacity, you will be placed on a wait-list and notified if a change occurs and an open seat becomes available.
